We have looked at the best way to preserve the original headlamps and have found that you can usually seperate (carefully) the lens, plastic spacer body and reflector. Usual scenario is as shown in the photo with the silvering worn to undercoat. The process we use can only be done in a vacuum and is regularly used by owners of MGF's to restore the factory silvering. Way cheaper than resilvering and a fantastic reflector restored. Note that this process will not cover corrosion so any reflector must be in good condition (at least the bowl area must). You can see in the image that the rust on the mounts is silver but still visible. However better than a Peugeot 205 reflector (which are also nla) and no modifications to the mounts. MOT pass!
